Anterior Hip Replacement

When hip pain makes it harder to walk, climb stairs, or do the things you enjoy, the orthopedic team at Jefferson County Health Center can help you explore your treatment options, including anterior hip replacement.

About the Anterior Approach

“Anterior” means “front.” During anterior hip replacement, the surgeon makes an incision at the front of the hip and works between muscles to reach the joint. The surgeon then replaces the damaged ball and socket with artificial parts.

Could Anterior Hip Replacement Be Right for You?

If hip pain or stiffness makes it difficult to walk, climb stairs, or get in and out of a car, an orthopedic evaluation can help you understand your options.

During your visit, your orthopedic surgeon will ask about your symptoms, how they affect your daily routine, and which treatments you’ve already tried, such as medication or physical therapy. You can also talk about the activities you’d like to get back to and ask whether anterior hip replacement may be an option for you.
