Amy Martin, RN, BSN, CDCES
Amy is JCHC’s Diabetes Care & Education Specialist with more than 15 years of experience. A Wayland, Iowa, native, she earned her nursing degree from Culver-Stockton College/Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and began her career as a JCHC med-surg nurse. Her passion for diabetes care is personal: her daughter was diagnosed at age three, and Amy’s knowledge of the symptoms helped her recognize it early.
Amy offers personalized education on understanding diabetes, preventing complications, managing medications, monitoring glucose, and emotional well-being. She also leads Diabetes Group Education Classes every other month and facilitates the monthly Diabetes Community Group for individuals with diabetes and their caregivers.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband, two children, and three dogs. She strives to offer hope and encouragement, reminding people that while diabetes can be frustrating, it’s not their fault.
