About
Shelbi Dexter has worked in healthcare since 2011, with experience in emergency care, one-day surgery, medical-surgical care, pediatrics, podiatry, and other clinical settings. Her approach to patient care focuses on listening closely, understanding each patient’s concerns and goals, and creating a care plan that helps them feel heard, understood, and confident in their health. Throughout her career, Shelbi has also helped expand access to care through healthcare services for the Wapello County Jail and preseason physicals for Indian Hills Community College student-athletes.
Shelbi is active in both the healthcare and Ottumwa communities through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Iowa Nurse Practitioner Society, Historic Preservation Commission, and Main Street Ottumwa. She is also a 2024 graduate of the Ottumwa Leadership Academy. Outside of work, Shelbi enjoys reading, diamond art, traveling, attending her children’s sporting events, and spending time with her husband and three children.
